|
Daniel Berschinski, MHS 2002 graduate & goalie for MHS, was on patrol in Afghanistan and stepped on an IED. He has injuries that include the loss of his legs. He is at Walter Reed in DC. Please reach out to Robert and Susan Berschinski during this time. Please keep Daniel and his family in your prayers. Once a Chief, always a Chief. Women's Soccer
In 1986, Jeff Ford started the women’s program at McIntosh coaching the team from 1986-1990. Ford came back as coach in 1993 leading the Lady Chiefs to the Final Four. In 1991, Sandy O’Loughlin took over the women’s program and, in 1992, led the Lady Chiefs to the first ever women’s State Championship in Georgia. In 1994 and 1995, Lori White coached the Lady Chiefs to back-to-back State Championships giving the program three of the first four women's State Championships in Georgia High School soccer history. In 1996 and 1997, Barb Lyon stepped in and led the Lady Chiefs to 2 Final Four appearances. Stephen Buckner took over the Lady Chiefs program in 1998, leading the Lady Chiefs to a 113-10-4 record, one State Championship, one State Runners Up, and three Final Fours. The 2001 State Champion Lady Chiefs finished 20-0-1 and were ranked #3 in the nation.
Marcia Clark took over in 2004 and has compiled a record of 113-31-6, 2 State Semifinalists, a State Finalist and two state championships. She led the Lady Chiefs to back-to-back State Championships in her first two seasons with the 2005 Lady Chiefs at 24-0-1 and ranked #1 in the Nation by the NSCAA. Overall, the Lady Chiefs Program has a record of 369 wins, 72 losses and 19 ties since 1986. The women’s program has never had a losing season. Since GHSA began state tournaments in 1992, McIntosh has accumulated 6 State Championships, 2 State Finals, 8 State Semifinals, 14 Region Championships, and 12 consecutive NSCAA National Academic Awards.
Men's Soccer
In 1983 the McIntosh Men’s soccer program began under Coach George Fulmer. In that first season the Chiefs had their only losing season finishing 4-5-1. The following year Randy Bortles led the chiefs to a 7-3-1 record. In 1985 coach Jeff Ford began to build a tradition and legacy that continues to this day. In Fords first season, he led the Chiefs to a 10-4-0 season playing the top teams in the state. Due to Ford’s guidance and belief to be the best you must compete against the best, he led the Chiefs to the quarterfinals of the State tournament in his second season. Under Coach Ford the Chiefs made the state playoffs 13 of his 15 seasons, and the region playoffs every year. During this time the chiefs won 10 region championships, were state quarter-finalist four times, in the final four 4 times and reaching the State Championship game twice. In 1992, the Chiefs showed how far they had come under Jeff Ford by winning the State Championship and finishing the season ranked 11th in the nation.
In 2000, long time assistant coach Bunky Colvin took over the Chiefs leading them to the State Championship and a #2 national ranking. Overall, the Chiefs have a record of 375 wins 81 losses and 22 ties. The Chiefs have three State Championships, were twice State Runner-Up, 6 Final-Four appearances, state Quarterfinals 14 times, Region Champions 14 times, and NSCAA National Academic award winners four times. In 2007, the Chiefs finished as State Champions with a record of 21-0-2 and were ranked #2 in the nation. Last season the chiefs finished the season 22-1-0 and ranked #7 in the nation.
